Sources come first

Every spec, formula and safety rule on EyepieceLab comes from a published source: manufacturers' spec pages and product sheets, NASA, the American Astronomical Society, and other official or educational pages. Each page lists its sources.

Product information

Product specs come from the maker or the retail listing and are attributed (“per the listing”). We don't test telescopes, and we don't publish invented scores, star ratings or prices.

Safety

We follow NASA and the AAS on solar viewing: only use a solar filter made for the purpose, mounted securely over the front of the optics. We don't recommend eyepiece-style sun filters.

When sources disagree

Makers sometimes list different numbers in different places. We say so and use the official spec page where we can.
